A sign of things to come?

Alexis Lloyd, an MFA student in the Design and Technology department at Parsons The New School for Design has turned in this interesting thesis project : The Ad Generator.

The program remixes words and semantic structures from real corporate slogans to generate invented slogans. These slogans are then paired with related images from Flickr, thereby generating fake advertisements on the fly.

Alexis says she intends to show "how the language of advertising is both deeply meaningful, in that it represents real cultural values and desires, and yet utterly meaningless in that these ideas have no relationship to the products being sold."

I don't think we have worry about losing our jobs just yet. But I am going to update my resume, just in case.

This is brilliant. Absolutely awesome. And a great way to get initial thoughts on a particular concept board.

Nice place to steal some ideas from? I have a friend who graduated from the same program at Parsons last year. Maybe he knows this guy!
