Thot bubbled #8
Brand Beckam has moved for a record sum of money to the country that gave the world marketing. What can we learn from this? A lot, I think, about brand repositioning and managing product life cycles. Can you think of any products in the Indian marketplace that can take a leaf out of the Brand Beckam book? Since poor did a nice post on cars, I'm thinking maybe the Ambassador?

You're right Ubermaniam. Ambassador is one brand which can really take that leap, alas. Another Indian brand which can really take a giant leap is Enfield Bullets and Old Monk xxx rum.
i am actually tempted to corelate what Beckham has done to a "Blue Ocean Strategy " the concept made popular by W.Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne.
I think its a perfect example of how Beckham is trying to create Uncontested market space and make competition irelevant.
Instead of again coming back to EPL and looking at other options in the other premier european leagues what Beckham has done is quite interesting and radical. I am sure its going to make him more popular in US and also make way for other aspiring talents to do another Beckham.
Beckham really bends both on the field as well off the field
Probably too similar an example, but Sachin Tendulkar definitely needs to reinvent brand Sachin.
