superb post, Kajal (no, thats not my love for kerouac speaking) and highly relevant.
try catching up with henry miller (ie if you havent done it). he is another example of free flow writing, pretty much like one's thoughts...and absolutely unadulterated.
I totally agree that they hold for planning as well. Heck, I think they hold for life itself.
I particularly love these three:

Meraj, thanks for the tip. I plan to pick up Tropic of Cancer soon! I love the idea of writing without stopping to analyse it too much, and sometimes I do that before I write a brief.
Blaiq - I love the last one too. To break away from inhibitions and express yourself clearly, thoughts stemming from experiences and ideas and knowledge...
A great tip my boss gave me on my briefs was to make it like a gossipy chat with my friends (this was on a particular account) .. but talking casually in a fun interesting way has helped me communicate my insights far better than dry matter of fact statements.
That's why I love this list, because all the advice is things we'd aspire to do but they're expressed in such a poetic inspirational way...
BTW we're still looking for young, enthusiastic planners (or ex suits 2-3 yrs exp) if either of you can think of anyone who would fit in...

thank you! what's really interesting is that lots of ppl from Europe & USA have been applying. I'm loving this reverse trend. Reinforces the India NOW thing. But it's a bit more challenging to plan in a foreign culture methinks - esp india with its contradictions n diversity - so lets see how it goes..

I love Jack K. You know who else does? William Gibson. He names both Jack K and Ginsberg as his early inspirations. His books are nominally scifi but they evoke the same sort of response in me as On the Road.
In case you guys haven't read his Pattern Recognition, you should. It's a great book and it revolves around the themes of brands and viral marketing.
