A meeting by some pitchers - 18th January, 2007

Last evening was sort of historical for the Planners of India...the first Planners meet of India (Bombay chapter) took place at the local SportsBar. 6 planners, some beer pitchers, salted peanuts and conversations ranging from musical notations to the famous acronyms of HLL (Harshal can enlighten us all on this subject in great detail...right Harshal?) to PLANS for turning ourselves into rich creatures happened. It was a happy event and we intend to have this experience, every fortnight with more planners on the table. Maybe, the pub-city people can do something similar...wotsay Iqbal? As Jim Morrison would put it, 'Lets start a religion' (are you listening, Saurabh?).

I really want to learn how to play bridge. It sounds smart...ha ha!

BTW ppl, totally random but speaking of clubs... the Bangalore chapter of Indian Whisky lovers has only recently allowed women to join. The Bombay one still doesn't.... *hmm*

Why would a club of whiky lovers not allow women to join? Is whisky drinking a very male thing? Is the pleasure of drinking and talking whisky diminished by the presence of women? Hmm.

I did a study on alcohol trends a few months ago and whisky did emerge as a very male dominated segment. esp in the north. it's a very punjabi macho thing to drink, but increasingly women ARE getting into the segment, esp with fine scotches.

Don't know if it's meant to be a last bastion of masculine expression in some sense. Must ask the men at the whisky club sometime!
