Simplicity

This recent ad of TVS Scooty Pep+ caught my eyes. A simple proposition, "Now in 99 colours." End result a simple eye catching colorful ad. Brand simplicity is indeed making a come back in the Indian advertising scene.

It is indeed a very simple and nice piece of communication.

But I have one crib. It says 'Now in 99 colours' and shows only a dozen or so. There's that slight but irksome bit of disconnect between the message and line.

I guess that because the media planner opted for a 60 cc ad . LOL

I like the warholisation of it. I did sthg similar on my blog a few weeks ago actually.

That aside, I dont know if simplicity is making a comeback or if the ocassional simple ad stands out more...

Yep, very Wharholian :)

The art director on this one seems to be someone i know, and yeah she would like doing something along these lines.

I've loved most of the new stuff TVS has been churning out, incl. Apache - very good clutter breaking stuff - not that i'm in the market for two wheelers, at the moment. But if i was, it would be in my consideration set.

Good show, McCann.

Honestly, as if anybody apart from the people in advertising care about Warhol. It's not a great ad or anything. The simplest thing to say would have been 'now available in 100-1 colours.' What's the point in showing a dozen colours and saying 99?
